In my country's power infrastructure sector, a highly anticipated innovation is unfolding, high above the water.

Sichuan Sanjian Jincheng Company's dual-jib boom made a stunning debut at the renovation of the nation's tallest water-based transmission tower.

This project is injecting powerful momentum into the booming power industry and ushering in a new chapter.

Challenge: Extremely difficult water tower modification task

The Shiziyang section of the 500 kV Shashijiayi Line carries a crucial lifeline for power transmission in the Greater Bay Area. With the development of the times and rising electricity demand, the existing transmission towers urgently needed upgrading and renovation. The goal of this renovation project was to dismantle the 235.75-meter-tall lattice towers and raise them to an astonishing 264.5 meters, making them the tallest overwater transmission towers in China. The difficulty was obvious. First, the removal of the old towers posed a daunting challenge. Structural and environmental constraints prevented the conventional whole-base demolition method from being applied. Furthermore, the towers were surrounded by large areas of valuable crop cultivation and densely populated factory buildings. Any carelessness in removing the traditional external guy wires could result in serious economic losses and safety risks, thus hindering the proposed solution. Second, the geological conditions were extremely unsuitable. The soft soil acted like a swamp trap, forcing even a 500-ton crawler crane to retreat. The introduction of conventional large-scale lifting equipment for construction was virtually impossible. Third, construction began in January, and power was to be delivered by the end of April, creating a tight deadline and considerable challenges.

Breakthrough: Jincheng Company's double-arm boom makes a stunning debut

Amidst this difficult situation, Jincheng Company, with its independently developed dual-jib boom, emerged as a formidable force, seemingly sent from the heavens. This equipment boasts a maximum lifting torque of 315 t.m and a rated lifting capacity of 18 t. It features numerous industry-leading features, including automatic detection, remote intelligent driving, and self-balancing intelligent jacking with four hydraulic cylinders. Its innovative use of a bottom-up jacking system allows for climbing, while the dual booms above the slewing mechanism offer numerous advantages, including high construction efficiency and quick and safe jacking and sectioning. To ensure efficient and safe renovations, Jincheng Company employed dual-jib boom technology coupled with an intelligent control platform. Its sturdy steel arms exude a powerful aesthetic when extended. Its advanced design allows for flexible and precise adjustment of both arms' angles and positions, like a highly sensitive sensory nerve, enabling precise positioning in complex high-altitude working environments, creating a stable "air corridor" for subsequent construction work. In terms of performance, its exceptional load-bearing capacity is more than sufficient to handle the various heavy lifting requirements during tower reconstruction, from heavy tower components to delicate electrical equipment. Furthermore, compared to traditional masts, its ease of operation has significantly improved. Through its intelligent control system, operators can provide real-time control of the high-altitude mast from the ground, ensuring precise and accurate lifting and repositioning of each lift, significantly improving construction efficiency.

Actual combat: "Embroidery-style" fine transformation creates miracles

At the construction site, Jincheng Company's dual-arm booms were in full force. While dismantling the old tower, they extended their arms, carefully dismantling each connection and steadily lifting the dismantled components to designated areas on the ground. The entire process was as precise as a surgical procedure, avoiding any disturbance to the surrounding environment. During the assembly of the new tower, they unleashed their full power, utilizing digital panoramic monitoring technology to comprehensively monitor the progress. The booms were precisely adjusted based on real-time feedback. Assisted by the dual-arm booms, each piece of tower material was assembled in an orderly fashion, rising steadily higher, reaching a height of 264.5 meters.

Outlook: Leading the new future of power infrastructure

Reportedly, this full-cycle dismantling and reassembly of such a tall tower on water is a first in China. Jincheng Company's outstanding performance in the renovation of the nation's tallest water-based transmission tower with its double-jib boom will set a new benchmark for my country's power infrastructure industry. It is not only a powerful construction tool but also a vivid example of how technological innovation drives industrial upgrading.
With the widespread application of high-performance equipment, my country's transmission tower construction and renovation projects will usher in a new stage of development characterized by greater efficiency, safety, environmental friendliness, and intelligence. This will lay a solid foundation for economic growth and propel the country towards a bright future. Leveraging this cutting-edge technology, Jincheng Company will undoubtedly forge ahead in the power sector, write more legends, and provide strong support for the development of the company and the group.
